Calcium Hydroxylapatite – a new generation of fillers

Calcium Hydroxylapatite – a new generation of fillers

Radiesse® is the newest filler applied in a non-surgical method used to model the contour of the face and hands and fill wrinkles

What is Radiesse?

Radiesse® consists of tiny, smooth calcium hydroxylapatite particles (CaHA). These particles form a kind of scaffolding on which collagen molecule created by the human body develop, and this in turn provides the desired long-lasting effects. CaHA is a building material that is a component of human bones and is already used for 25 years in dental and orthopedic implants. No side effects have been reported within this long period of use. The filler is biocompatible and does not cause allergies.

In what area can Radiesse be used?

Radiesse is ideal for treatments aimed at:

• modeling cheeks
• Filling the zygomatic bone and the surrounding jaw line
• elimination of nasal and labial furrows
• elimination of wrinkles, the so-called “laugh lines,” i.e., run near the corners of the mouth down to the chin
• hand rejuvenation
• delicate nose correction

What are the effects of the treatment and how does Radiesse work?

Radiesse increases the density of the skin, improving its structure. An additional advantage of the preparation is changing the features of the corrected areas, without adding excessive volume. As a result, corrected areas retain a natural look.

A gel median of the product creates an immediate filling effect, visible right after surgery. After about four months, the gel is removed by macrophages and is replaced by new collagen produced by fibroblasts. The production of new collagen takes place around the applied calcium hydroxyapatite microparticles that form in tissues in the shape of “scaffolding”, and are a specific factor that stimulates the production of collagen fibers. Thanks to such a naturally occurring process of collagen proliferation, the skin rejuvenates itself. Wrinkles are filled with extra collagen and the skin becomes thicker and more elastic.

How long does the effect of Radiesse treatment last?

The effects last for at least one year. Remodeling of the skin is often favorable, which causes Radiesse to be visible much longer.
