What is carboxytherapy?
Carboxytherapy is a treatment wherein CO2 is injected into the skin with the use of a special device that generates small punctures.
Insertion of carbon dioxide under the skin increases blood flow, flow of oxygen and nutrients in the treated area. Natural growth agents are cumulated in the skin, for instance vascular endothelium, which improves microcirculation and regenerates the cells. Improved circulation of lymph accumulated when swelling both on small areas such as legs is also restored.
Yet another reaction caused by CO2 is the controlled inflammation, which results in stimulating fibroblasts to produce collagen leaving the skin thicker and hence rejuvenated.
Insertion of CO2 has a destructive effect on fatty cells, which erupt, releasing triglycerides. CO2 also damages structures, which produce cellulite.
On which areas of the body can carboxytherapy be performed?
- Hairy part of the scalp – strengthens the roots and prevents hair loss
- skin underneath the eyes and crow’s feet – reduces shadows under the eyes, rolls of fat under the lower eyelids, thickens the epidermis and reduces wrinkles
- face skin, neck and cleavage – reduces wrinkles through stimulation of collagen synthesis, skin regeneration and microcirculation processes
- chin – reduces fatty tissue and stimulates synthesis of collagen
- abdomen, buttocks, thighs, knees, calves – reduces fatty tissue and cellulite
- hands – regenerates skin and improves its color
- scars and stretch marks – regenerates tissues and reduces visibility of defects.
With which treatment can carboxytheraby be combined?
Carboxytherapy can be performed as an independent treatment or combined with numerous other medical and cosmetological treatments. In order to determine the optimal treatments we recommend free consultation with a cosmetologist, nurse or physiotherapist. For instance when treating fatty tissue and cellulite, we recommend carboxytherapy in combination with pressurized SPM or Body Mix massages and Liposhock that emits acoustic waves. Carboxytherapy speeds up and optimizes the effects of the Slim Lipo laser liposuction treatment.
Is the treatment painful?
The sensation during the treatment can be compared to a mosquito bite or acupressure. The needles are very slim while the machine generating the punctures operates fast under pressure of approximately 4.5 Bar, which additionally decreases sensibility of the treatment.
How many treatments should be performed?
The number of treatments depends on the area being treated and the purpose of the treatment. A series consists of an average of 6-10 treatments and the procedure is performed twice a week for 3-4 weeks. Treatment on the body takes approximately 30 minutes and on the face approximately 15 minutes.
Is the treatment safe?
All elements coming in contact with the patient’s skin are disposable. The device is compliant with ISO 9001, ISO 13485, EN 60601-1-2 standards and has CE marking.
- pregnancy,
- heart failure,
- respiratory failure,
- certain kidney or liver diseases,
- tromboflebitis.
