Plastic Surgery of the Vagina
Vaginal plastic surgery is usually carried out on women who have had a cracked or stretched vagina. Popularity of this procedure is proportional to the frequency of these types of damages occurring. They affect up to 90% women who give birth vaginally. Indications for vaginal plastic surgery are to restore proper functioning of reproductive organs and to improve the quality of life of patients and their intimate partner. Equally important is the fact that vaginal plastic surgery is not a contraindication for becoming pregnant again. The treatment can be conducted on adult women, who have suffered from a cracked or stretched vagina during their first or subsequent birth (also as a result of other factors).
Course of the Treatment
Like each treatment, plastic surgery of the vagina is also preceded by a consultation visit. The purpose of the first consultation visit is to determine the patient’s medical history and provide information on the approximate course and characteristics of this treatment. Proper diagnostic tests that have to be made are also determined during the first visit. The procedure generally lasts between 30 and 90 minutes. Its course depends in large part to whether the patient followed the doctor’s recommendations. For two weeks before surgery, certain drugs must be avoided (aspirin and its derivatives, vitamin E, and cough and flu medicine). For three days before surgery, the patient should also significantly reduce cigarette smoking. For at least six hours before the execution of surgery, food and fluids cannot be consumed.
Convalescence
A follow-up examination is recommended after seven days after the surgery. Normal activity can be carried out after a few days, but the swelling and complete healing of the wound occurs after about a week. In the first days after surgery, pain and an elevated temperature is possible. In order to reduce it, pain killers are prescribed. Each patient’s case is very individual, but it is assumed that first sexual contact can take place after 6-8 weeks after the procedure.
Contraindications for Vaginal Plastic Surgery
Vaginal plastic surgery cannot be carried out when a woman is planning a pregnancy in the next few months. Poor health, disease (particularly cancer), blood clotting disorders also add to contraindications. From a medical point of view, it is not advisable to perform this kind of treatment before the first birth, because the state of the vagina will change in result of the surgery.
