Plastic Surgery of the Vestibule

Plastic surgery of the vestibule is carried out on women who suffer from a number of dysfunctions of reproductive organs caused by stenosis and vaginal artresia. Anatomical changes may be either congenital or acquired – in both cases; the result is negative functioning of the internal sections of the reproductive organs. What is more, the changes significantly decrease the quality of intimate life of women or completely make sexual intercourse with full penetration impossible. The aim of the surgery is to widen the vestibule and restore its normal anatomic structure and improve its functioning.

Plastic surgery of the vestibule is preceded by a consultative visit during which the doctor determines the patient’s medical history, recommends proper diagnostic tests and introduces the approximate course of the procedure. Depending on the type and nature of congenital or developed vaginal development changes, the time of the procedure ranges from 15 to 30 minutes. During the visit, the doctor removes unwanted tissue and closes the wound with stitches. The course of treatment largely depends on whether the patient follows the doctor’s recommendations, which is why patients are asked not to take aspirin and its derivatives, vitamin E, and cough and flu medicine two weeks before surgery. For three days before surgery, the patient should also significantly reduce cigarette smoking. For at least six hours before execution of the surgery, no food or fluids may be consumed.

Swelling after conducting plastic surgery of the vestibula usually subsides after a week. Pain that may occur is neutralized either by over the counter painkillers or prescription painkillers. Although physical activity can be carried out after a few days, it is recommended to avoid strenuous activities and sudden movements. A very important issue is appropriate hygiene of the intimate area.

Overall poor health, cancer, and blood clotting disorders are the basic contraindications for surgery.
