Face Lift
With age, collagen fibers in facial skin sag, which results in its collapse and stretching under the influence of gravity. As a result of these negative processes, facial appearance is inadequate to age. Adverse changes impinge on the sense of attractiveness; affect the way a person is perceived by others, especially close family, co-workers and clients. Correction of facial skin laity allows patients to maintain and reverse these processes and obtain a desired appearance, an esthetic effect that sustains for five to seven years. Face lift is a method of surgical correction of flabby tissue that causes a person’s face look a lot older, tired and expressionless. The sagging of collagen fibers results in excess skin and the appearance of many wrinkles. The procedure allows for relatively stable restoration of health and youthfulness to the face and a positive psychological effect is achieved. Face lift is a fairly complex operation that usually lasts three to four hours, requires two day hospitalization and is performed using general and local anesthesia. For this reason, it can be done only on those who have good physical condition.
What to expect during surgery?
Before the facelift, it is necessary to perform basic diagnostic tests and undergo a physical examination where the doctor explains the course of the surgery and becomes familiar with the patient’s health history. During the first visit to the doctor, the esthetic effect that the patient wants to achieve is determined. Face lift involves removing unnecessary flabby skin on the cheeks and neck from skromiach subcutaneous tissue and stretching it accordingly. Stitches are made in the area behind the concha and temple.
How to proceed after the surgery?
In the first days after surgery, typical afflictions include pain, which is generally prevented by over the counter pain killers and a sense of tension of the skin. During this time, it is recommended to apply cold compresses, restrict speech and eating products that require long biting and chewing. After about 4 days, it is possible to take out part of the stitches, while the remainder is removed after about two weeks. Recovery depends largely on the application of doctor’s indications, and lying on your side at night is especially inadvisable. Physical activity should be avoided for at least a month, while sunbathing and the tanning studio or sauna should be avoided for six weeks.
What are the contraindications for the surgery?
Contraindications to perform the surgery include unhealed sores, cancer, pregnancy, diabetes, use of Botox in the month preceding surgery and you cannot sunbathe for six weeks or go to the sun tanning studio or sauna.
